On June 2, 2007, the annual 5K race for the cure for breast cancer took place in the nation’s capital which drew over 40,000 runners and walkers. Participants from all walks of life, young and old, and including breast cancer survivors (those wearing pink) ran to raise awareness and money for cancer research. District of Columbia Mayor Adrian Fenty even participated, finishing the race in about 23 minutes (not pictured here).
